A butcher has been accused of faking a five-star hygiene rating for his business without ever being inspected.
Robert Michael Punter, 53, is alleged to have used the Food Standards Agency (FSA) logo on the Millers Catering Butchers website so customers believed it had top marks for food safety.
He is also accused of pretending the butchers was registered with the FSA by using the agency’s "establishment approval number" on 11 invoices sent out to customers.
Millers Catering Butchers, based at the Silverwing Industrial Estate in Horatius Way, had not been visited by FSA inspectors at the time of the alleged offences in June last year.
Mr Punter is charged with two counts of issuing a false or misleading advertisement and will appear at Croydon Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
