A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after absconding from treatment at Croydon University Hospital (CUH).
Reece Davis, 23, escaped through a "restricted window" at CUH at about 6pm on Thursday while on escorted leave from Bethlem Royal Hospital in Beckenham.
Police found Mr Davis in the Streatham Common area at about midday today.
He was arrested following a stabbing yesterday in Crystal Palace.
Officers were called to Belvedere Road at about 9.20 pm to reports of a man having been stabbed.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
Mr Davies has been taken into custody at a south London police station.
A spokesman for Croydon Health Services NHS Trust said: "We immediately contacted the police last week when a patient absconded through a restricted window.
"The patient was on escorted leave from the Bethlem Royal Hospital and we are working with South London and the Maudlsey NHS Foundation Trust to fully investigate the incident.”
