A 25-year-old cyclist who was killed after being hit by a lorry in Croydon has been named by police.

Magda Tadaj died of multiple injuries after being struck in St James’s Road just after 1.30pm on May 23.

The collision happened on a railway bridge near the junction with Lansdowne Road.

Ms Tadaj, who was from Poland but lived in Streatham, was pronounced dead in the road.

She was a student at South Thames College.

A post-mortem examination took place at Croydon Mortuary on May 26 and gave the cause of her death as multiple injuries.

An inquest is set to open and adjourn soon.

A memorial service was held at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Balham High Road on Sunday.

Friends have paid tribute to a "lovely happy person" on social media.

Wayne Taylor said: "So much love from such a young soul; Magda's joy touched every person lucky enough to meet her."

Alina Timofticiuc said: "Known her briefly but I was sad to hear about this tragedy. 

"She was a lovely happy person. Condolances to the family."

Basit Ali Bodla said: "I can still remember her smiling face, very sad news. Sympathies to her family."

A 48-year-old lorry driver, who is understood to have been transporting goods to a nearby builder's merchant at the time of the collision, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and failing to stop at the scene on May 23.

He has been bailed until a date in mid-September pending further enquiries.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the collision.
