The crash took place close to the junction of South Norwood Hill and Chalfont Hill, outside the BP service station.

A witness said there were still three ambulances on the scene more than an hour after the crash.

Akilan Rajeswaran, a customer service assistant at BP, said: “I think the motorbike rider got injured, someone told me he got injured in his ribs and he is laying in the street.

“They are looking at his leg and he is wearing a neck brace

“I saw some of it happen, the motorbike rider flew over the car then afterwards he was just laying in the street.

“The front window of the car is broken and the car is still in the middle of the road.”

South Norwood Hill was closed both ways between High Street and Southern Avenue while emergency services deal with the incident.
