Jailed: Cocaine dealer who kept pepper spray in the fridge and a revolver under his floorboards
Frederick Blake, 54, of Norbury Crescent, Norbury, must pay £228,253 within 28 days or face having three years added to his 10-year jail term.
He was jailed at Croydon Crown Court for possessing a firearm, cocaine possession with intent to supply, and obtaining cash through crime on December 9.
A judge made the confiscation order at a hearing on Tuesday.
Blake was stopped by Sutton officers in an unmarked police car after he was cruising slowly and scanning houses in Wrythe Lane, Carshalton on Monday, July 13, last year.
In his car police found ten white rocks of cocaine and more than £400 cash. Officers later found £20,000 worth of cocaine, a working Enfield revolver, CS gas, drugs production equipment and about £38,500 under the floorboards in his bedroom.
Two machetes, financial documents and computer equipment were also seized from Blake’s home.
The money confiscated will be paid to the Home Office if Blake pays up.
The order, made under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, follows a Carshalton gang who ran a drugs production line from shipping containers last month being told to pay up £240,000 or face longer jail terms.
Dave Stringer, borough commander of Sutton police, said: “This is the second significant confiscation order this summer amounting to a total sum of money approaching half a million pounds.
“Our message is simple: if you engage in major drugs activities you will be caught and dealt with by the courts and we will use our powers to pursue confiscation orders to make sure crime doesn’t pay.”
