A car ploughed into a crowd after "multiple people" were stabbed in a fight outside a New Addington pub.

Two people, including a man who had been knifed three times, were taken to hospital and three men have been arrested following the violence near the Man on the Moon in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to reports of a fight outside the Headley Drive pub, where a large crowd had gathered, at 1.10am. 

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Initial reports stated that there were multiple people who had suffered stab injuries at the location. 

"A vehicle that was involved in the incident then made off from the scene, colliding with a number of people in the crowd."

Several ambulances and London's Air Ambulance crew were also sent to the scene. 

Police officers found a man suffering three stab wounds, which were not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing. Paramedics took him by road to a major trauma centre in south London, where he remains this morning.

A woman was taken to a south London hospital with minor injuries after being hit by the car.

The Met spokesman said: "A this time no other people have come forward presenting injuries."

Police arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and a second 23-year-old man was held on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.

All three remained in custody at a south London police station this morning.
