Croydon Police cracked down on disorderly youths on the borough's tram network last week.
As part of a five-day operation known as Operation Hereford, offices from British Transport Police (BTP) stopped 20 people, giving them "words of guidance".
Inspector Jack Ioannou said the beginning of June was historically a time when disorder on the tram network increased.
Concerns have recently been raised about the behaviour of schoolchildren on public transport and action is being taken to clamp down on troublemakers.
Police said robbery and fighting increases as schools return after the May half-term break.
Insp Ioannou added: "To counter these historic increases, BTP and Tramlink revenue staff joined forces for a five-day proactive operation providing passenger reassurance and a policing presence on the tram network.
"While there were few incidents recorded during the operation we did receive very favourable feedback from commuters."
