A man has been knocked unconcious following a reported assault on a shop security guard in Croydon town centre.
Police and paramedics were called to the North End branch of Primark at about 2.15pm to reports of an assault.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said a man had been knocked unconcious during the attack.
Paramedics treated the victim at the store before taking him to a south London hospital.
According to a member of staff nearby Croydon Village Outlet, the assault began following a dispute between a shoplifter and a security guard at the Primark store.
A manager at Primark refused to comment on what had happened, but confirmed police were still at the store.
A passer-by said of a number of police cars and an ambulance remained in North End at about 2.45pm.
There has been one arrest, the Met spokesman said.
