A man tried to coax a 12-year-old girl into his car in an attempted abduction attempt in Coulsdon.
The girl was walking along Smitham Downs Road at about 8.10am on Tuesday when she was approached by a man who told her to get in his car.
The girl ran away and the man drove off.
A post on Facebook said the man was in his 40 or 50s and drove a navy blue car.
It said the man had attempted to "coax" the girl, who was on her way to school, into his car by telling her that her mother had told him to pick her up because she looked very unwell.
Croydon police are investiagting.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are continuing.
