Lewisham Council and Croydon Council have raked in nearly £10m in driving fines over the last three years.

Following a freedom of information request to both councils, it can be revealed that from January 2013 to November 1 this year Lewisham council sent out 68,670 fines, racking up £3,967,033.75 for the council's coffers. 

The council operates four fixed cameras and controls one CCTV camera in the borough.

Between 2013 - 2014 the number of parking tickets more than doubled rising from 7,063 to 15,979 tickets.

The biggest hotspot for fines was Lewisham High Street which runs from the junction of Albion Way to Limes Grove.

In Croydon the council operates 38 cameras and since April 2013 has pulled in £5,855,366 in fines.

The council dished out 83,812 tickets between January 2013 - November 1 2016.
