A man has died in hospital after a flat fire in Croydon.
The victim was taken to hospital last night (December 5) after firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued the man from the living room of the first floor flat in Kemble Road, Croydon.
Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service took the man to hospital, but he later died.
Four fire engines and 21 firefighters from Croydon, Wallington and Norbury fire stations and officers had been called to the fire at 7.02pm.
About half of the four-room flat in a converted terrace house was damaged by the fire, but the crews had the fire under control by 7.42pm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
