Wandsworth residents can soon find out anything they want to know about the construction for the Nine Elms regeneration project.

A free construction recruitment event, hosted by the council’s Work Match team, will take place on January 27 and will provide general information about the regeneration and showcase the jobs that will be available.

The Nine Elms project, described as a "new global city", is one of Europe’s largest regeneration zones and will include 18,000 new homes and a Damien Hirst gallery.

The event is exclusively for Wandsworth residents to give local people the first chance to find out about the latest construction vacancies.

Wandsworth Council’s employment and skills spokesperson Councillor Kim Caddy said: "The Nine Elms development is bringing a whole host of new job opportunities to our borough and we want to make sure that Wandsworth residents are the first to benefit.

"The Work Match team are dedicated to helping local residents into new jobs created across the borough, so if you’re looking for work in construction, or want to know more about working in the industry, the Nine Elms construction recruitment event is for you."

Work Match is also offering coaching for interviews, pre-employment training, and guidance with applications.

The event will take place on Friday January 27 from 10am to 3pm at Yvonne Carr Children's Centre, Thessaly Road, Nine Elms, London SW8 4HT.
