Platforms one and two were out of use at the station, meaning trains were revised or delayed.

Disruption was expected to last until at least midday, National Rail said.

Lines have now been reopened.

An LAS spokeswoman said: "We sent an ambulance crew, a single responder in a car, an incident response officer and our Hazardous Area Response Team to the scene. We also dispatched London's air ambulance.

“Sadly, the patient died at the scene.”
