Three fire engines were sent to investigate reports of a strong smell of acid in a Waddon flat morning.
Firefighters from Croydon and Wellington stations were called by the Metropolitan Police to Duppas Avenue, at 8.05am.
The crews conducted a search of the area, but no smell was detected.
A London Fire Brigade spokeswoman said: “We were called at 8.05am to Duppas Avenue, Croydon, to reports of the smell of acid inside a flat.
“We sent three fire engines to the scene after being called by the Metropolitan Police.
“Crews conducted a thorough search of the area but no smell was detected and so left the scene at 8.59am.”
