A main road in South Norwood was closed after a crash between cyclist and a car this morning.

Police were called to South Norwood Hill, near the junction with Elm Park Road, at around 8.35am.

A man, who officers believe was the cyclist, has been taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service (LAS).

A Met police spokesman said: "We were called at approximately 8.34am on Friday, March 10 to reports of a road traffic collision in South Norwood Hill, near the junction with Elm Park Road.

"Officers and LAS attended the scene and established that a car had been in collision with a cyclist.

"A man was taken to a south London hospital.

"The driver of the car stopped at the scene. There are road closures in place. There have been no arrests and enquires continue."

Officers have since confirmed the cyclist's injuries are not life-threatening.

Bus route 410 was diverted and route 196 has been reduced, with buses starting and finishing at Upper Beulah Hill.

TfL has since confirmed the road has been reopened.

Police initally believed the collision was between a car and a motorcycle, but officers have since confirmed it was a cyclist.
