Vehicle dash-cam footage has been released by officers investigating the fatal drive-by shooting of a man in a Croydon last week.

Tinodiwanashe - known as Tino - Makwanya, 24, from the Croydon area died after being shot in the head on Friday, June 9

Detectives believe that night Tino was a passenger in a Volkswagen Golf. Police say a motorbike, with a pillion passenger, pulled up alongside the car and shots were fired on the A232, the Croydon flyover, at the junction with Park Lane.

Footage released today shows the Golf moments after Tino had been shot - speeding through a red light in Wellesley Road - as the driver tried to get to hospital.

It was still being followed by a motorcycle, which it is believed was being ridden by a white man, wearing shorts and a bright yellow helmet. The pillion passenger had a black rucksack and a black helmet.

Detective Inspector Domenica Catino, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command urged anyone who may have information related to the shooting to come forward.

"The footage clearly shows at least two vehicles waiting at the lights when the victim's car and the motorcycle sped past as well as a bus and a number of pedestrians," he said.

"We would urge anyone who saw these vehicles - and they were distinctive because they were travelling fast - to come forward. You could have vital information to help with our enquiries.

"We are also keen to speak to people who might have witnessed the shooting on the Croydon flyover as well as anyone who saw the motorbike waiting in Southbridge Road for around half an hour before the incident."

A murder investigation was launched after police were called at 10.06pm on June 9 to reports of the shooting.

Six minutes later, officers were notified that a 24-year-old man had been taken to a south London hospital suffering a gunshot injury to his head. Tino died upon arrival at the hospital. His next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination on Sunday, June 11 at Croydon Mortuary gave the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head.

The driver of the car suffered minor injuries.

Detectives continue to retain an open mind about the possible motive for Tino's murder. There have been no arrests at this stage.
