A seven-year-old cancer patient from Thornton Heath has been given the chance to meet some of the world's biggest tennis stars.

Two years ago, then seven-year-old Lucas Hill was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma.

On Saturday, he was one of the mascots for The Aeogon Championships semi-finals.

Currently a patient at Royal Marsden, Lucas received chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy treatment from May 2015 until September 2016.

Lucas’ mum, Donna, said said it was very exciting for Lucas to step onto court with Gilles Muller and Marin Cilicon at The Queen’s Club.

“It was an absolute privilege for Lucas to represent The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity at the semi-final," she said.

"He was a little bit nervous but also excited to walk out onto Queen’s Centre Court.

"He hopes that by taking part it raised awareness of children’s cancers.”

Along with Lucas was nine-year-old Sam Sharland from Woking.

Director of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity Antonia Dalmahoy was pleased both the boys enjoyed themselves.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our young patients who are both excited to be involved in such a prestigious event," she said.
