Croydon Council is confident that the borough's tower blocks do not contain the same cladding as that used on Grenfell Tower.
At a meeting of council on Monday, June 27, Councillor Alison Butler told the chamber that letters had been sent to tenants and leaseholders after Grenfell Tower fire and fire safety checks were carried out.
"Inspections of all cladded blocks have been done & council is confident cladding is not the same used on Grenfell tower," she said.
"Sprinklers will be fitted in 25 blocks of 10 storeys or more.
"Once fitted the council will consider further fire safety measures in other blocks. Updates on progress with this will be given in due course."
