Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of Tino Makwanya in Croydon have released images of a man they would like to speak to.

Police have also released photographs of a motorbike believed to have been used to transport two suspects to the scene - a Yamaha R6 with the registration R6SXE. The vehicle has not yet been found.

A murder investigation was launched after police were called at 10:06pm on June 9 to reports of the shooting.

Six minutes later, officers were notified that a man had been taken to a south London hospital suffering a gunshot injury to his head.

The victim, 24-year-old Tinodiwanashe ‘Tino’ Makwanya from Croydon, died at hospital.

A post-mortem examination on Sunday, June 11 at Croydon Mortuary gave the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head.

Detectives believe that Tino was a passenger in a Volkswagen Golf. A motorbike with a pillion passenger pulled up beside the car and shots were fired on the A232 Croydon flyover, at the junction with Park Lane.

The driver of the car suffered minor injuries.

Stephen Weatherley, 41, of Thornton Heath, was arrested late on Thursday, June 22 on suspicion of Tino's murder and was charged the following day.

The man officers are appealing to trace was wearing a black crash helmet with a flip-up front.

He was also wearing a black rucksack with a large Timberland emblem on the front.

Detective Sergeant Steve Keogh, of the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "Tino was executed by a gunman who arrived at the scene on a motorbike, and we are appealing to trace a man who we believe may have vital information about his murder.

"If you recognise the man pictured or the motorbike, we would urge you to get in touch as soon as possible. The information will be treated in the strictest confidence."
