Two victims remain in hospital following a fatal collision on Sunday that injured six and killed one other.

Officers were called to an incident at Pixton Way at 1.24am on Sunday, July 2, following reports of a crash.

London's Air Ambulance, London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service also attended and found seven pedestrians injured following a collision with a red Audi A3 convertible.

One of those injured, a 16-year-old girl, died at the scene. Next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination at Croydon Mortuary on Tuesday, July 4, gave cause of death as head injury. Formal identification has also taken place.

Six other people were injured in the collision, four boys aged 16 and two girls aged 15 and 16.

They were taken to south London hospitals for treatment. Two of them remain in hospital. Their conditions are not life-threatening.

Police continue to appeal for information following the fatal crash.

Police say the driver of the car, a man, fled from the scene on foot following the collision. They believe the car was travelling at speed before it lost control at a corner and collided with the pedestrians. At this time there is nothing to suggest the car was driven deliberately at the group, according to police.

A 38-year-old man attended a south London police station on Sunday, July 2, and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was subsequently released under investigation.
