A proposal will be presented to Croydon Council tonight (July 6) that would see the erection of interlinked buildings of 30 and a 40-storeys on George Street.

This would see nearly 500 residential units built at the site of the former Essex House.

While no decision will be made on whether planning permission will be granted or not, it will provide a forum for council to comment on the designs as they stand.

The proposals also include 25 disabled parking spaces contained within a new basement.

The site is located on the southern side of George Street, opposite Dingwall Road and in close proximity to East Croydon Station.

It has been vacant and surrounded by site hoardings for years, having been previously occupied by an office building (Essex House) which was demolished in the 1990’s.
