Students with disabilities and special needs from Gresham School in Croydon took out gold at the Panathlon London and South East Primary finals at the Copper Box Arena on Wednesday, July 5.
Youngsters from 21 schools across the south east of England all had to progress through regional qualifiers to reach the season-ending finale.
Pupils competed over many different disciplines, including boccia, football, new-age kurling, polybat, table cricket and running races.
Gresham scored 47 points to earn the title of London Primary champions, edging out nearest rivals Goldbeaters Primary from Barnet by two points.
Harry Boxall, 10, from the victorious Gresham team, said: “This is really exciting. I’m going to put my medal in my wardrobe.”
Sarah Wilson, teacher at Gresham School, added: “It gives them a sense of being part of a team and they love it.
"We like the competitive element and it’s just amazing to have won.
"We’ve never been to the Copper Box before and it’s been an unbelievable experience.”
