Croydon’s adult learning and training service (Calat) has gotten the tick of approval.

Calat has received formal accreditation for the quality of information, advice, and careers guidance it provides to its learners.

The ‘Matrix Standard’ seal of approval is a government requirement for services supported by the Skills Funding Agency.

It ensures all students and learners can benefit from quality-assured levels of support in understanding all of the options open to them.

A spokesperson for Croydon Council said: "The independent assessor was very impressed, particularly noting how much the service delivered for learners and praising the passionate and committed staff who work together as a strong team.

"Other highlights from the assessment report included the good relationships between learners and tutors and how people are clearly motivated to explore the options that can help improve their lives. Calat’s excellent partnerships with Job Centre Plus, Croydon Works, and local libraries was highlighted, as was the fact that the organisation was always open to new ideas."

Councillor Shafi Khan was pleased with the recognition the service was given.

“Calat is well-known for providing an excellent service and has helped many thousands of people boost their skills, gain qualifications and find jobs," he said.

"This award reflects the exceptional dedication and ability of staff and I’m proud Croydon continues to deliver such a valuable facility.”
