Emmanuel Church is in Croydon is in the running for a £25,000 award but they need help to pull it off.

Since before WW1 the Emmanuel Church Hall site in Normanton Road has been used by the residents as a place to have fun and play sports.

In 1939 a sports hall was built and it has now become a busy hub of local community life. About 4,000 people use it to meet and have fun together. In January 2018 an extended building is being reopened and this award will buy new furniture and replace equipment that is now worn out.

This year more than 400 customers nominated projects for the OneFamily Community award.

Corporate and customer strategy director at OneFamily Guy French said: "Each year we give hundreds of thousands of pounds to fund projects, making a real difference to the good causes and those that benefit from them.

"A fantastic range of entries have been nominated this year and all of them are projects that our customers care passionately about. Anyone can vote and those that get the most will win, so I’d encourage everyone in Croydon to get involved.”

Voting now open to members of the public until September 6.
