Norbury Park's new BMX track is set to open this weekend.

A little over a year after the track was given the green light, riders will now have a place to let loose.

The first day will feature an organised an all-abilities, all-ages ‘rock-up-and-ride’ session from 10am and 2pm.

For those without their own bikes and equipment there will be kit available to borrow, and coaches will be on hand to give riding advice.

“This project is a significant investment in one of our parks," cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport Councillor Timothy Godfrey said.

"It’s vital we make improvements like this to ensure our parks attract a wide range of local users.

"Officers have worked hard to bring this exciting project about, including a lot of community engagement."

Taking up less space than a standard football pitch, the track’s challenging straights and tight, banked hairpin bends will make for one heck of a ride.
