As students returned to school this week, some had a little more trouble with their uniform than others.

Ties in particular seemed to bring a bit of concern.

After spotting one such student struggling with his tie, a Croydon policeman came to the rescue and has been praised online for doing so.

"Not our usual call to service," Croydon Town Centre MPS wrote on Twitter. "But this young lad needed help doing his tie earlier and PC Mitch came to help."

People were quick to thank PC Mitch for the helping hand.

"Kind words can be short and quiet but their echoes carry for miles," one person wrote.

"Thank you, i wish you were around when I went to school,"another said.

One person even suggested Mitch's work might not be over.

"A task I was rubbish at with the tie round my own neck, never mind someone else's," a person wrote. "He might have a queue tomorrow."
