A children’s childcare club in Croydon has been inspected for the first time in three years and the published results are unanimously ‘outstanding’.

Buddies Playsafe Club operates from Beaumont Primary School and was inspected at the start of this month.

Ofsted previously rated the service for children aged between four and eight as ‘good’ in 2014.

The latest report stated: “The manager is exceptionally motivated. She consistently and expertly reflects on practice to identify strengths and areas for improvement, to maintain an extremely high-quality after-school club.”

Club manager of Buddies Playsafe Club, Amanda Fiest, told Croydon Guardian: “I’m delighted. Thank you to the children, and to everyone at Jancett Playsafe for supporting me in my role.”

The Ofsted report said the quality of teaching was “consistently high” and the children are “motivated and excited to learn”.

Tracey Neale, operations manager for Jancett Playsafe, commented: “We are so pleased that all of Buddies Club’s hard work has been recognised.

“Thank you to our manager and her team, to our club families, and to Beaumont School for their support.”

The welfare of the children was also given an ‘outstanding’ rating.

“Children are emotionally secure, they settle extremely quickly and play very well with each other,” the report said.

“During group times children agree rules, learn how to be considerate to each other, and celebrate cultural festivals.

“The youngest children are immensely independent, sociable and confident. For example, they independently make choices and they serve themselves food and drink at teatime.”

Buddies Playsafe Club opens each weekday from 7.30am to 9am and 3.30pm until 6.15pm. During school holidays the service is open from 7.30am until 6.15pm.
