It's the time of year when every day our calendars bring us a new surprise - and no doubt police in Croydon will be surprising some people this Christmas.

The police have released their annual 'badvent' calendar of wanted people across the area.

Each day officers are releasing a different wanted picture on Twitter - and are urging people to hand themselves in to get matters "sorted out" before the festive season begins, or else face the prospect of spending Christmas behind bars.

And some of them are likely to be on Santa's naughty list too.

Croydon's borough commander Jeff Boothe said: "We're warning wanted people to give themselves up before Christmas.

"If someone doesn't answer their bail or fails to turn up at court, we don't just forget about them.

"If you are one of the wanted people I would urge you to contact us and sort things out without any delay.

"My message is clear to those who are wanted - hand yourself in, or it may be the police calling around on you this Christmas time."

The most recent seven to be tweeted out by police are: Marvin Roach, Kyle Smerdon, Maxwell Sargent, Michael Darnley, Julian Sinclair, Darren Bowles and Anthony O'Connell.

Pictures of Derek Shelbourne, Edward Anton Armstrong, Abirathan Uthayakumar and Jordan Simpson were the first tweeted by police last week as part of the badvent calendar.

If anybody knows where the men are they should call 999, 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
