A video has surfaced of a bus mounting the pavement and appearing to narrowly miss a pedestrian.

In a video titled ‘Queue Jumping Bus Driven on the Pavement’ , an out of service bus can be seen almost getting blocked by a truck and overtakes it by mounting the pavement while a pedestrian walks past.

The incident is believed to have happened on Commonside West, Mitcham, around 7.15am on Thursday (January 11).

John Richardson, 57, an Insurance Underwriter working in the City who witnessed the event and videoed it said: “I was following the bus along the Bus Lane and noticed that the refuse truck was stopping it from going past.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw the bus mount the pavement to avoid being delayed.

“What made it even worse was that there was a pedestrian on the pavement at the time.”

Claire Mann, TFL’s Director of Bus Operations, said: “We are concerned by the actions shown in this video.

“We expect the highest standards from all of our bus operator’s drivers, even when not in service.

“We have contacted the bus operator, Go Ahead and an investigation is underway.”
