If you head down to Airport House any time soon, you might just see an unusual piece of history.
Commissioned for the opening of Terminal 1 at Heathrow Airport, a piece of art depicting Croydon Airport’s iconic air traffic control tower has gone on public display.
Chairman of Historic Croydon Airport Trust, Ian Walker, said it was an honour to be able to feature 'The History of Aviation' by William Kempster.
“This is a rare opportunity to view an artwork of both breath taking proportion and huge local significance," he said. "We are honoured to house Kempster’s famous mural on the site of London’s former airport for the benefit of the thousands of visitors we welcome every year.” The 8.4 metre mural will be on display on the first Sunday of every month.
