People "living on the margins of society" will be given a chance to shine in a new photography exhibition.

To be held at Boxpark Croydon, the ‘Croydon Lives’ exhibition will portray people who live and work in Croydon in their everyday setting.

Shot by Croydon photographer Yolande de Vries, some of the pictures include local firefighters, a young man recently sleeping rough in the town centre and a young mum with her three children.

Director of Bare PR Lorraine Bridges, which commissioned the exhibit, was excited about showcasing the borough.

“Croydon has a remarkably strong community," she said.

"A vibrant and diverse people who are proud of this town and are rooted in its identity.

"We’re lucky enough to work with many of these people, organisations and groups every day.

"This exhibition is about giving something back to our community, to say thank you for making this borough what it is.”

The photos will go on display at Boxpark, on the mezzanine level from February 1 to 28.
