A Battersea mum is fundraising to find a cure after her son died from a rare childhood cancer.
Little Zartasht Saeed was passed away last September at just 18 months old following a diagnosis of stage 2 neuroblastoma in just over six months earlier.
Now mum Khansa Mahmood, 32, of Yelverton Road, is holding an event in his memory for Neuroblastoma UK to help fund for treatments on March 3.
The part-time administrator said: “[He was] very happy, always smiling. He had extreme pain in the last few months and he was still smiling, trying to play.
“He couldn’t even sit up but you always saw a smile on his face.
“He had a 95 percent chance of survival and he didn’t make it, still he was one of the five percent that don’t make it.
“Because of my son this is extremely important [to me]. The thing for me is that he was stage 2 when he was diagnosed and he still didn’t make it.”
Mrs Mahmood believes there is not a ‘proper cure’ yet and, while there research and clinical trials are being conducted, she wants for it to continue and more to be done.
So far £282.63 has been raised by 15 supporters since fundraising began on January 7, 65 percent of the £430 target, at the time of writing.
The event will be held on the ground floor of Totteridge House in Yelverton Road between 11am and 4pm.
