Plans to redevelop a supermarket in Sidcup and build houses nearby have been submitted to Bexley Council.

Discount retailer Lidl has put an application into Belxey Council to demolish its current store in Footscray High Street and replace it with a refurbished unit with 128 parking spaces.

The retailer has also proposed five three bedroom homes be built at the front of the current site.

If the scheme gets the greenlight, the current Lildl store and the Donovan Bros Warehouse will be knocked down ahead of a single storey replacement Lidl being built at the back of the site.

Lidl say the development would bring 40 new jobs.

Lidl recently opened a new store in Welling, and opened a large superstore in Bexleyheath in June.

The application is currently being decided upon.
