Music lovers rejoice, there is a new festival about to hit town.

July will see the launch of the house and techno music Butterfly Effect Festival, with acts already locked in.

Steve Lawler, Darius Syrossian, Secondcity and Charlie Sloth will all be gracing the stage with a spokesman for the festival citing Croydon's longstanding relationship with music as a key reason the festival was brought to town.

"From the birth of dubstep to the emergence of jungle and garage, Croydon has always been a vital town when it comes to underground music," he said.

"Most recently it has produced grime king Stormzy and is home to the famous Brit School which has seen alumni such as Amy Winehouse, Adele, Katy B and Leona Lewis all go on to international stardom.

"Indeed, the Butterfly Effect Festival is planning to work with the school by offering fresh talent the chance to perform at the festival which is just down the road."

The festival is taking place on the weekend of July 28 and 29 in Lloyd Park with event organisers hoping to see a total of 20,000 people attend the event.
