Karl Robinson says he has no problem with Blackpool owner Owen Oyston ahead of tomorrow’s rearranged game.

The January clash was postponed less than an hour before kick-off due to a waterlogged pitch.

And Valley boss Robinson hit out at then-Tangerines chairman Karl Oyston for claiming Addicks players wanted the game called off, when those comments were made by his father, Owen.

The Liverpudlian apologised to Karl for his mistake, but wasn’t happy with Owen.

He told News Shopper: “I got that wrong. I thought Owen was the chairman and me and Karl spoke on the phone. I said ‘I wasn’t talking about you’.

“It was obviously about Owen and I apologised [to Karl]. But I’m not happy with people talking about my players.

“That day was not about the game being called off, it was about a legend [Jimmy Armfield] who passed away earlier in the week.

“Everybody showed complete respect to a man who gave football everything. We conducted ourselves impeccably well.

“At no stage did we want the game to be off. We feel frustrated that it was called off, but equally, Blackpool will be frustrated too.

“I just don’t like people saying my players wanted that game off, that was far from the truth, it was a lie if anything.

“Owen knows where I’ll be [before the game], but it’s not a problem.”

Blackpool are infamous for having one of the worst playing surfaces in the Football League.

Charlton, who will move into the top six if they beat Gary Bowyer’s men by a two-goal margin, will have to alter their style of play at Bloomfield Road.

Robinson added: “We’re all aware of the pitch being difficult to play on.

“The important thing is they’ve got someone like Gary Bowyer, a very good manager who will constantly work around the clock to make the best out of any situation.

“The pitch will be what the pitch is, and you’ve just got to take that on the chin.”
