He already has stints at schools in Purley and Warlingham, now Thomas Raymond can add South Norwood to the list.

This comes as he was named the new principal at Oasis Academy Arena.

For the former maths teacher, this will be his first appointment in the top job, something he is looking forward to.

“I am honoured to have been appointed as principal of Oasis Academy Arena, and I am very much looking forward to working alongside our students, staff and families," he said.

"During my career in education I have taught in schools across south London, including Croydon which is a town I know well.

"With our fantastic facilities, dedicated staff team and aspirational young people, we have a fantastic opportunity to create a vibrant learning environment and outstanding school which this local community so richly deserves."

Although it is Mr Raymond's first time in charge, he does have a bit of experience in leadership roles.

For the past six years he has served as either the assistant or deputy head teacher at an inner London school.

He will fill the hole left at the school following the resignation of previous principal Craig Griffiths in the summer.

Oasis regional director for London and the south east, Kirstie Fulthorpe was "delighted" by the hire.

"He has a longstanding track record of progressing schools, and at interview we were impressed both by his vision for the academy, and his career-long dedication to the young people of this community,” she said.

“Oasis is committed to providing our young people with the ‘outstanding’ school that they deserve, and with Mr Raymond leading the academy we are in an extremely strong position moving forwards.”
