Funding for a police officer to help stop anti-social behaviour in New Addington has been renewed.

The officer will continue to operate as part of the Neighbourhood Team which comprises two officers and a police community support officer.

The decision for Croydon Council to fund an additional three years means that an officer based in Fieldway will also be funded by police, as part of an agreement between the two parties.

Councillor Hamida Ali said it was vital to have police in the community.

“Having additional officers in New Addington and Fieldway shows our commitment to tackling crime and anti-social behaviour in this area," she said.

“We are keen to build on the work already done to tackle anti-social behaviour, and to make the area safer and more secure.

“The funding deal also means there will be greater capacity to focus on local problems such as illegal motorbike riding, shoplifting and drugs, and to build and improve relationships with local community.”
