Caterham has had a makeover.

From lampposts to trees, a group of secret knitters from Caterham Valley for You turned the town into a work of art, just in time for Easter.

This transformation marked the start of a two week celebration in an effort to bring together the Caterham community and the town’s businesses.

Chairman of Caterham Valley For You, Andrew Browne, was hoping the colours might brighten someone's day.

“Colour Caterham is a sight for sore eyes," he said.

"This initiative has really lifted the spirits and the artwork around the town has become a talking point among shoppers.

"We wanted to create a sense of vibrancy and fun in Caterham Valley during the Easter holidays and I think the efforts of our secret helpers, the local schools and the businesses have achieved that, and more.”

But people looking to provide a splash of colour can still lend a hand.

On April 6, anyone and everyone is being asked to come down to the Caterham Galleries between 10am and 1pm where they will be able to mark their territory with a painted handprint on the outside wall.

But if you fancy seeing some of the best artwork the kids of Caterham have to offer, then once again you are in luck.

In the weeks leading up to the Easter holidays, more than 350 children were hard at work creating designs to be shown in shop windows.

After that the field was been narrowed down to 29, the pieces of art were scattered on the windows of different business as well as the Caterham Valley library,

But a special place on the walls in Caterham Galleries was reserved for the two winners, whose designs were framed and put on display for all to see.
