A Polish national living in Thornton Heath has been arrested on suspicion of modern slavery.

Officials from the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority raided a house in London Road on March 28 and found six potential victims found living in poor, cramped conditions (pictured).

A 36-year-old was arrested on suspicion of modern slavery, forced labour and labour exploitation and has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

The alleged victims, all Polish nationals in their early 20s, had been working within the construction industry and have since been offered support from multiple agencies.
