Police are appealing for information after a man was stabbed in Croydon town centre.

Police were called to a south London hospital just after 4am on Sunday where a 21-year-old man has presented himself, suffering a stab wound.

The victim has since been discharged.

Officers have established that he and his friend were involved in an altercation with 10 suspects at approximately 3.15am whilst they were walking along Katharine Street at the junction with High Street.

His friend was punched before the victim was stabbed in the leg.

Detective Constable Chris Dimmer, said: “Although this assault happened in the early hours of the morning, it took place in a busy area of Croydon town centre.

“I’m sure there would have been other people in the area, who may have either seen the assault, or a large group hanging around.

“I would also like to appeal to any motorists, including cab drivers, with dash cam footage who were driving close to the High Street to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Croydon CID via 101 quoting reference 1338/20 May.
