A huge new piece of art has popped up in Croydon and it has brought a piece Asia to town.

Dan Kitchener made his return to town recently, this time to create a large-scale mural in Park Street.

Finally complete, it is fair to say it has created a bit of buzz.

RiseGallery's Kevin Zuchowski-Morrison said he thought this was one of the best pieces the artist had ever designed.

"He certainly keeps blowing me away with the work he produces," he said.

"The public love Dan. We have been so eager to get him back to the area.

"We felt it was really important to give him a wall when he did return that his calibre of art deserves.

"It’s truly stunning, it stops you in your tracks when you see it."

The artwork was jointly funded by Kevin himself and the Croydon Business Improvement District.

Matthew Sims, chief executive of Croydon BID said there already plans in the works to bring more art to town.

"We are delighted with this latest artwork addition helping to create a more vibrant and memorable experience of the town centre," he said.

"The arts scene continues to blossom and we are pleased once again to be working in partnership with the RISEgallery in bringing international talent to Croydon.”

Mr Zuchowski-Morrison agreed that it was crucial for projects like this to exist to keep the area looking its best.

"It’s important we continue to expand our offering of public art its proved to have so many measurable benefits to the area," he said.

"We have some truly stunning pieces already and have already amassed a stunning public gallery."
