Three people were rescued from a burning flat above a shop in Thornton Heath this week.

Two women and a man were led to safety by firefighters after the London Fire Brigade was called to London Road at 12.16pm on May 30.

A small part of the first floor, above Santosh, was damaged while one woman managed to escape before emergency services rushed to the scene.

Breathing apparatuses had to be used as the three people involved were assessed at the scene by the London Ambulance Service.

Two fire engines and ten firefighters from Norbury fire station attended while the blaze was brought under control by 12.42pm, according to a LFB spokesman.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
