A woman has claimed she was kicked in the back on a crowded train at East Croydon because she "wasn’t getting off fast enough".

Julia Macfarlane, an on-screen ABC reporter from Scotland, said she was attacked by a man this morning at around 10.30am while on a train arriving at the station.

The 29-year-old told Croydon Guardian: “This man was pushing me and I said 'alright I am getting off the train too'.

“All of a sudden, he kicked me in the back with his foot. No one in the carriage said anything.

“The only person who helped me was this guy on the train. He ran off past me and ran and caught up with him.

“He’s a danger to other people so hopefully the police will catch him. Imagine if I had been an old lady.”

A British Transport Police spokesman confirmed the incident was being investigated. No arrests had been made at the time of publishing.
