RESIDENTS fear a pub's new entertainment licence could lead to vandalism and under-age drinking.

Neighbours of the Saracen's Head in London End, Beaconsfield, are up in arms after the Beefeater pub was granted an entertainment licence by South Bucks District Council, which would enable them to have three-piece bands performing live in the bar.

Dee Baines, of Malthouse Square, Beaconsfield, said she was concerned about mess and youths hanging around on the corner near the pub.

She added: "There does not seem to be any control there.

"There never seems to be any mess and bottles outside the other pubs in Beaconsfield.

"I do fear youths hanging around on the corners but we will have to see how they behave. The new licence will make it worse."

Jan Van der Pump, also of Malthouse Square, said she was concerned there would be karaoke at the pub.

She added: "There is always a problem with people standing outside."

Julian Jackson, general manager at the Saracen's Head, said to the Free Press in February that he only wanted an extension to the existing entertainment licence to allow jazz bands to play in the restaurant.

He added: "I am a part of the community here and I only have the community's interests at heart.

"This licence means we can extend the size of the bands we have playing.

"My main concern is the restaurant here and I want to create a good atmosphere for people to enjoy."
