Book-loving bargain hunters could be in luck as Croydon Clocktower sells off old library stock.

The Big Book Sale will take place at Croydon Clocktower from 9.30am to 4pm on January 19 featuring both adult and children's books and fiction and non-fiction titles.

The books have been withdrawn from librarires because they have either been replaced by new editions, no longer being borrowed or are too worn to be leant out.

The borough's libraries also need to make way for 34,000 new items added since April.

Councillor Steve Hollands, cabinet member for culture and sport said: "Anyone who enjoys a good book should head to the Clocktower to take a browse at the selection of books and titles on offer in this sale. It is the opportunity to pick up a bargain or two for the whole family."
