THE Filipino community in the Taunton and Wellington area have launched their own association to promote co-operation and fellowship with British people.
The Philippine International Neighbourhood Association in Somerset also aims to raise the profile of their community in the district.
Rosie Benson, Ethnic Minorities Liaison Officer with the Council for Voluntary Services advised on the association, while county and district councillor Stephen Brooks attended the launch.
The officers for PINAS include Manny Soriano, the chairman, and Romualdo Sapigao, vice-chairman.
A spokesman said: "PINAS is keen to work with other organisations in Taunton Deane and the enthusiasm and professionalism of all involved in the association is sure to guarantee its future success."
