The problem doesnt lie with the police but the courts. Police can arrest suspect after suspect but unless the courts are going to punish them things will continue to worsen.

If we were not living in a dictatorship, we could have a referendum on bringing back capital punishment.

Please , do not blame the police. They do all they can. Ask , why are knives and guns so free on our streets. The ? is where do they come from.

I agree, you can't blame the police, their hands are tied, they aren't allowed to do anything these days. What is happening to this country, no wonder so many people are moving abroad. It will be a country full of asylum seekers soon.

The guns come from Eastern Europe ,We didn't have this gun problem before the Berlin wall pulled down .

Praise Croydon Police who allowed knife man Mark Dixie to violently rob a woman with knife in waistband. Hang around streets for hour or two then stabs to death and rape someone else. Which officers should be commended for this?

The violence this country is now experiencing is terrifying. Can things possibly get any worse?

Everyday, I read of or hear about a violent assault or murder. There seems to be few detterents.

I would love to start a family, but the thought of bringing a child into such a harsh world, where in 20 years time he or she could be taken from me through some violent incident, fills me with dread and sadness.

The most disturbing factor nowadays, is that seemingly normal men, who are described by their friends and families as the life and soul" have underlying evil, sinister thoughts and intentions.

I just cannot understand what is happening to society. Perhaps it's the Internet, certain images seen there may be giving people an unrealistic outlook on life. It has to end somewhere, but what are the solutions?

Offences against the person has nothing to do with lack of Police on our streets, the removal of the Berlin Wall causing the illegal importation of arms, or any like excuse.

It's all to do with the rotten persons on this street who have little self esteem, or respect for life itself.

If you want to blame anything you might care to consider the entry of the world's human flotsam and jetsum that has washed up in Britain.

You might also care to consider the fad of churning out children that become a burden to the state and have no male role model in a long gone father.

No discipline, no respect and no self esteem. Those are the causes of this ongoing problem - blame the parents and the benefit state but never those who strive to keep the peace on the streets, by consent, and who are constantly hampered by PC nonsense and targets (and a useless Chief Commissioner ).

In the 1900's we had World Wars. These took care of the potential scum, as they were cannon fodder, in the form of infantry. Since 1945, nature's natural selection (i.e. war) hasn't been there to provide this "service" to society. May sound harsh, but it is true I'm afraid.

David, you are an utter fool.

Decent people went to war because they valued patriotism.

Those sacrifices, over the years, allow idiots and scum like you to make the inane comment you have.

I doubt you have the guts to do what they did.

From "Suicide in the Trenches," by Siegfried Sassoon

"You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you’ll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go."

What we have today is due to very poor parenting, lack of discipline and lack of respect for self and others.
