A woman was left in a critical condition after being stabbed several times last night in Thornton Heath.
The victim, who is thought to be in her 50s, was attacked near Mayday Hospital, London Road.
It is understood as well as being knifed multiple times her attacker also beat her with a hammer.
The victim underwent emergency surgery last night and is now in a critical condition.
A man - thought also aged in his 50s - was arrested in connection with the incident.

why are knives and guns so free on our streets. The ? is where do they come from.The guns come from Eastern Europe ,We didn't have this gun problem before the Berlin wall pulled down .

The problem doesnt lie with the police but the courts. Police can arrest suspect after suspect but unless the courts are going to punish them things will continue to worsen.

In the 1900's we had World Wars. These took care of the potential scum, as they were cannon fodder, in the form of infantry. Since 1945, nature's natural selection (i.e. war) hasn't been there to provide this "service" to society. May sound harsh, but it is true I'm afraid.
