A DOWNHAM man has been arrested in connection with a homophobic murder of Jaap Bornkamp in New Cross.
The 30-year-old and a 23-year-old man from the Catford area were arrested on October 17.
They have been bailed to return in January 2003 pending further investigations.
Mr Bornkamp and a friend were walking along New Cross Road when two men passed them in the opposite direction at around 7.15am on June 4, 2000. Within seconds of this, he realised he had been stabbed and collapsed on the pavement outside the old Deptford Town Hall. A £20,000 reward was offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer(s).
