If you are looking to welcome a new member to the family, then look no further, as a two-year-old German Shepard Comet could be the perfect fit for you.

The sweet-natured pup has been waiting over 100 days at Battersea's London centre after arriving back in January.

When he arrived, Comet was a nervous stray with very sore ears due to a bad infection which caused him to be uncomfortable.

Battersea experts were quick to perform specialist ear surgery and now Comet is getting used to life as a deaf dog.

Comet is looking for his forever home

Since his surgery, Comet has begun to heal and is growing more confident every day.

Working hard on his training with Battersea's expert team, the sweet pup is learning hand signals and body gestures in place of verbal commands.

The young German Sheppard has made good progress and is now ready to start looking for new owners that can help him grow.

Battesea's staff describe Comet as a "gentle giant" and say he "has transformed into a relaxed and affectionate dog who loves nothing more than receiving plenty of fuss from his human friends."

Like most dogs, Comet is a big foodie, enjoying treats and tasty snacks all day long.

Talking about Comet, Louise Goodbody, Kennel Team Leader at Battersea, said: “After arriving at Battersea in poor condition and needing lots of medical attention, Comet has made great progress during his time with us and is responding to training well. Despite being unable to hear, he has proven to be such a clever boy and has already mastered hand signals for ‘watch me’, pointing for direction cues and thumbs up for praise.

“Comet is such a goofy character and a giant puppy at heart, he loves spending his days playing games with his ever-growing collection of toys with plenty of cuddle breaks in between! He is sure to make a loyal and loving addition to the right home.”

Comet is still on the hunt for the perfect forever home and would like to be the only dog in the household with a private garden.
