Parents' plea in French student double killing

The parents of a French student brutally stabbed to death while visiting his friend have issued a warning to his killer.

Gabriel Ferez, who had been living in South Norwood, was found dead along with his pal, Laurent Bonomo, in New Cross last Sunday.

The two 23-year-olds had been left with injuries which horrified investigators who discovered the pair's bodies following an explosion at the house.

The biochemistry students, both in their third year of a masters degree, had suffered a total of 240 stab wounds, some inflicted after they had died.

“You may feel scared and feel like a coward, but you must recognise this terrible mistake you made. Rest assured that we will not leave you in peace.”

Mr Ferez's parents' plea

Both bodies were badly burnt and it is thought the killer set fire to the flat in an effort to cover up evidence.

In an appeal Mr Ferez's parents warned his killer they would not be able to hide forever.

In a statement, Francoise and Olivier Ferez spoke of their pain saying: "The events that have happened are still painful to us. We are trying to come to trmes with it all.

"We know what happened to our son may have been the result of someone or some people whose psychological state of mind was disturbed."

The statement continued: "You may feel scared and feel like a coward, but you must recognise this terrible mistake you made. Rest assured that we will not leave you in peace."

Mr Ferez's parents also called for help from the British public in solving the brutal crime.

Police have said Mr Bonomo's Sterling Gardens flat had been burgled on June 23 and it is thought that a laptop had been stolen.

Officers think bank cards and two Sony PSP games consoles were stolen on the day the men were killed.

  • A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the investigation and is currently being questioned by police.
